What The World Owes

What The World Owes

Grasp tightly to the things that life
Would readily tear from your hands
Because life’s not there to soothe your soul
The world doesn’t owe you anything

It will take, and take, and take from you
But it doesn’t care about your truth
It’s not supposed to
It doesn’t owe you anything so
Why pretend that it does?

Home is a place that doesn’t exist
It is a construct of the mind
Home is anyone or thing that gives you peace
The world is not our home because
It gives us nothing and takes everything

You are your own truth, you soothe your own soul
You dress your own wounds when you bleed
You love your chosen loved ones like you’ve got one life to live
And be sure to close the door when you’re finished
