Containers In Our Midst

Containers In Our Midst

I live in a box
That is the human way
To close ourselves to others
When we feel them
Becoming too unfamiliar for our tastes
They don’t like us anyway

I am an alien
I don’t know any other way
To exist; I kind of like people
They can be cool
When they suit my tastes
They don’t like us anyway

I don’t like boxes
I do not like the way
That they close me off to others
They keep me contained
And they do not fit my tastes
They’re a waste of time, anyway
